Vietnam’s Tourism Surge Lifts Quy Nhon and Bai Tu Long Bay Onto the World Stage

Vietnam has recorded remarkable travel growth in the first seven months of 2026, welcoming 13.9 million international visitors, an increase of nearly 14 percent on the previous year, putting it at roughly 56 percent of its target of 25 million arrivals for the year.

Two destinations have stood out. Quy Nhon, a coastal city in central Vietnam, took fourth place on TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice list of top trending global destinations, praised for uncrowded beaches and Cham-era temple towers.

Bai Tu Long Bay, meanwhile, was recognised earlier in the year as one of Southeast Asia’s seven wonders by Condé Nast Traveler. The northern bay offers limestone karst scenery reminiscent of Ha Long Bay but with fewer crowds.

Government policy has reinforced the trend. A resolution passed in August prioritised high-value tourism over sheer volume, targeting longer stays and greater spending per traveller.

For European travellers seeking authentic and less-crowded destinations, Vietnam’s blend of heritage and natural beauty places it among the rising stars of global tourism.
