The Parisian dance house and the German comfort label have released three silhouettes together, out now, with prices starting at $495.
Repetto’s comeback has taken plenty of forms over the past year. A Birkenstock collaboration probably wasn’t the one anybody had circled. It’s here anyway, available to shop as of today, and the pairing works better than it has any right to.
The approach was straightforward: take Birkenstock’s best-known shapes and run them through Repetto’s colour cards. That means Iconic Pink, Flame Red and Shiny Black across the range, three shades the Parisian house has built its identity on.
The Arizona, reworked
Birkenstock’s two-strap staple keeps its shape but swaps in glossy round buckles, a nod to La Ronde, the dance figure the detail takes its name from. It’s a small change that shifts the whole register of the shoe.
The Boston gets a bigger rethink. Renamed the Opéra, it becomes a pared-back slip-on clog with fine bow detailing and trim, plus satin ankle straps you can take off depending on how much you want the ballet reference to read.
A new silhouette in the mix
The Scala is the one that didn’t exist before. Billed as the Opéra’s more playful sister, it arrives as a Mary Jane in smooth and patent leather with two narrow straps across the vamp. Think of it as the pick for days when you want a bit of coquettish charm without abandoning a polished outfit.
All three come in European sizes 35 to 42. Each has Repetto’s Vichy-check lining running across the footbed and a 7mm EVA outsole underneath, so the comfort side of the Birkenstock bargain stays intact.
Why the timing makes sense
Ballet flats have been in constant rotation this year, worn with jeans one day and the flimsiest eyelet slip the next. The problem with living in flats is that your feet eventually file a complaint. Birkenstock’s podiatrist-approved footbed answers that. This collection means you no longer have to pick a side.
