Celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips — the hand behind Hailey Bieber’s and Kendall Jenner’s lips — has turned her attention to one of beauty’s oldest staples. Her new Top Coat Hydrating Lip Gloss, from her brand M.ph, is designed to fix the usual gloss trade-offs.
Phillips went viral on TikTok in 2023 and launched M.ph last year, quickly landing bestsellers at Sephora with her Underpainting Palette and Le Skin foundation. The gloss is the latest addition.
“I found that so many formulas made me choose between beautiful shine and actual comfort,” she says. “Some looked gorgeous at first but felt sticky or heavy, while others ended up drying out my lips. I wanted something that delivered that glassy, juicy finish and the perfect amount of colour, but still felt incredibly comfortable and nourishing.”
It comes in eight shades spanning pearly and classic glossy finishes, with a few shimmers in the mix. “I couldn’t resist adding a few with shimmer,” she says — a nod to the days you want a little more than a classic gloss.
