’90s style keeps steering our salon appointments — from fluffy supermodel blowouts to the layered “Rachel.” This season the decade’s slip-dress ease is making its way into the chair, in the form of the shoulder-brushing “slip bob.”
“The slip bob is a bob that just kisses the shoulders, with some invisible layers,” explains Hershesons stylist Dale Herne. “There’s no heavy line, so it feels very soft but with some precision. It gives it that slightly sexy feel but still looks luxurious and elegant, thanks to the flick through the ends.”
Its appeal is in the restraint: a slightly longer length and subtle movement make it an easy first step into bob territory without a dramatic chop. “It’s understated,” Herne says, “which is exactly what makes it feel so modern.”
Low-maintenance and flattering across hair types, it’s the kind of cut that reads polished with barely any effort — the beauty equivalent of a good slip dress.
