For Breanna Stewart, WNBA All-Star Weekend looks different these days. The New York Liberty power forward spent her eighth All-Star surrounded by family — her wife, Marta Xargay Casademont, and their two young children, Ruby and Theo — and this year the fashion was a family affair.
The highlight, she says, was the family’s “first nice family fit”: on the Thursday night, all four stepped out in coordinated black, blue and white stripes. Stewart had bought Ruby’s dress and Theo’s shirt, both Off-White, on an earlier trip “before I even knew what I was going to wear,” then found a Public School look for herself and an Acne Studios fit for Marta. “It all really just tied together,” she says. “I did good.”
There were nerves, too. “I don’t buy expensive things for them,” Xargay Casademont notes of the kids’ designer pieces; “getting ketchup on an Off-White shirt sounds awful to me,” Stewart adds. Her own favourite recent buys: a blue Goyard bag with matching wallet and a Coach Empire 40 she carried all weekend.
Stewart works with a stylist, Jan-Michael Quammie, but says her wife is her real second opinion — the two pick each other’s outfits, and Marta borrows her clothes more than the other way around. Asked who has the best style on her team, she doesn’t hesitate: “Me.” She describes her own look as “fitted, tailored, put together,” and credits a run between 2019 and 2021 with helping her find it.
