Selena Gomez has revealed that her longtime best friend, Taylor Swift, has yet another creative talent beyond songwriting and performing — painting.
During a recent appearance on the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast alongside her husband, Benny Blanco, the actress and singer shared intimate details about a deeply personal gift Swift created for her 30th birthday — a handmade painting filled with symbolic meaning and stitched by hand.
A Handmade Work Of Art
Selena Gomez, 33, described the one-of-a-kind piece as a painted scene of a serene lake at night.
“She did it on an actual cloth, and she painted a beautiful lake,” Gomez explained during the Tuesday episode. “It was at night, and the moon was there and in the stars… she painted our exact star signs.”
The celestial details carried special meaning. Swift, 36, is a Sagittarius, while Gomez is a Cancer. The painting featured both constellations in the night sky, symbolizing their enduring friendship.
What made the gift even more extraordinary was the craftsmanship. Instead of writing or printing a message, Swift hand-sewed every letter of her inscription onto the cloth.
“She said, ‘Here’s to the next 30 years,’ hand sewn, ‘From Taylor to Selena,’” Selena Gomez recalled. “It’s just, instead of writing, ‘Here’s to the next 30 years,’ or printing it, she sewed every letter. It was the sweetest gift.”
More Than Just A Painting
The artwork wasn’t the only meaningful gesture.
Gomez also revealed that Swift hand-wrote the lyrics to a song she had written about her. While she did not specify which track’s lyrics were included, she confirmed during the same podcast episode that Swift’s Evermore track Dorothea was inspired by her.
Additionally, Gomez shared that Swift wrote a previously unreleased vault track titled “Family” about their friendship.
The emotional weight of the artwork even left Blanco stunned when he rediscovered it while the couple was going through stored belongings.
“She pulls out this piece of art, and I’m like, ‘Ah, this is perfect for the living room,’” Blanco said during the episode. “And I said, ‘Who made this painting?’ It’s like one of the best paintings I’ve ever seen.”
Blanco added that he was “fully blown away” upon learning that Swift herself had created it.
