Zendaya fronts Prada’s new Paradoxe fragrance, Sweet Chemistry

Prada announced on Wednesday, July 29, that Zendaya will front Sweet Chemistry, the newest fragrance in its Paradoxe line. Celebrity fragrance deals usually work the other way around, with the scent arriving in the actress’s life at roughly the same moment as the contract. This one did not.

Zendaya, 29, found the original Paradoxe on her own, and says she had been wearing it for a year before anyone at the brand got in touch. She first tried it at the previous year’s Met Gala, having spent a while quietly wondering what her best friend kept wearing. “It was my best friend’s favorite perfume, she wore it all the time, and I kept wondering, ‘What is this?'” she told Harper’s Bazaar. She tried it that night, collected a stack of compliments, and kept it. It became her signature scent.

What is actually in the bottle

Paradoxe launched in 2022 on a floral base and has been one of Prada Beauty’s steadier sellers since. The original leans musky with amber underneath. The Radical Essence version went woody and nutty. Sweet Chemistry, the new Eau de Parfum, is built on blackcurrant, orange blossom, and neroli milk.

A campaign in the middle of a very loud year

The timing is either excellent or brutal, depending on how you feel about saturation. Zendaya is in cinemas and on streaming more or less continuously right now: the third season of Euphoria, The Drama, The Odyssey, the fourth Spider-Man film, and Dune: Part Three, which arrives in theatres at the end of 2026.

Her personal life has been just as visible. She and Tom Holland married quietly, a fact that leaked when her longtime stylist Law Roach told Access Hollywood on the Actor Awards red carpet in March that the wedding had already happened. Holland appeared to confirm it in an Esquire UK interview published in June. Neither of them has said much else about it, which is consistent with how they have handled the whole relationship since going public in 2021.

Zendaya has been candid about the volume of all this. She told Entertainment Tonight that she is grateful for the career and would not trade it, then added the caveat that gets quoted: sometimes you just need to disappear for a little while.

A fragrance campaign is not exactly disappearing. But given that she was buying the stuff before Prada asked, it is at least the rare version of this arrangement where the endorsement predates the paycheck.
